Many young African entrepreneurs suffer from impostor syndrome.

This is a psycological occurence in which you doubt your intelligence, skills or talents.

The reason for this is the fact that many don’t have anyone to look at as role models, global business leaders originating from Africa.

Another psycological fact that we face is the negative narrative that had been spread over years against the continent of Africa by the media.

No matter how brilliant an African is, we are not taken seriously even among ourselves. No body is looking to us for anything innovative, big or trust us.

Today my mission is to tell you an inspirational story of a man who faced all kind of challenges. From walking barefoot, forced into exile fearing for his life, homeless but became a world class billionaire.

His name is Julius Mwale.

Julius Mwale is a Kenyan-born US billionaire, serial investor who resides in New York. He is surrounded by the most influential and wealthy men like Bill Gates, former president Donald Trump.

He is the President and CEO at SBA Technologies Inc, a wave-based biometric system company. He is behind the $2 billion investment project, Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC) based in Butere, Kakamega in Kenya.

Mr Mwale is a lifeproof that Africans are hardworking, trustworthy, disciplined, reliable and can compete internationally.

Julius Mwale was born in 1976 in Western Kenya within Kakamega county. He is native of Lunza village in Butere

He is a family man married to Kaila EK Mwale. He has a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and a Diploma in telecommunication engineering from a Kenyan college.

His investments are in technology, health sectors. He has partnered with US based KE International to build a battery plant in the mineral-rich Democratic Republic of Congo to power smart cities in Kenya and throughout Africa.

His plan is to expand the Mwale Medical Tourism City model across Africa. The plant will manufacture electric power storage batteries to power smart cities with the continent.

By 2050, he would like to build 18 cities in Africa using the continent assets. He wants to empower locals by creating million jobs to transform and upheld the population to a middle class level.

So far he has built other cities in Zambia, Congo, Ghana, Cameroon and more to come.

The strategy is to move development in rural areas while keeping African authenticity. He is driven by a legacy mindset for future generations of young Africans to pursue.

Another interesting fact about his project in Kenya for instance is the Hampton’s hospital where locals will be treated for free.

The story of Mr Mwale is a proof of what Africans can do when we access opportunities. He is a good role model to follow.
